Cutting through century-old, irreplaceable wood paneling to install in-wall or in-ceiling speakers in this historic residence was not an option at Osbee’s Classic NYC Brownstone. For the Library, a Leon soundbar was custom-made to match the width of the tv and provide rich, surround-sound-quality audio throughout the room.
The speaker grilles to the left and right of the fireplace in the Family Room at Osbee’s Entertainment Marvel have been painted to match the grasscloth wall covering, making them almost invisible. Their low-profile, magnetic construction makes them easy to snap on and off for servicing of the speakers.
In the Dedicated Home Theatre at Osbee’s Entertainment Marvel, the powerful movie-theater-quality 7.1 surround sound speakers are carefully placed to be unobtrusive if not invisible. The star-lit ceiling and the walls were specially engineered using sound isolation technologies to keep the sound and the booming bass vibrations from escaping the room.
At Osbee’s Enchanted Theater, the star of the show is an audiophile-class 9.2 surround-sound system featuring a pair of freestanding Meridian DSP8000 loudspeakers with a custom finish to match the designer’s color palette for the room. Subwoofers are hidden behind acoustically transparent fabric panels. The Meridian DSP640 side-channel speakers are cleverly hidden in the hinged millwork columns upholstered with acoustically transparent fabric panels.
At The Fifth Avenue Duplex, custom-made speakers from California Audio Technology (CAT) deliver audiophile quality sound throughout the residence. The custom speaker grilles are made of horsehair to match other finishes in the rooms.
With custom horsehair grilles, even simple bookshelf speakers from CAT become works of art to match the décor at Osbee’s Fifth Avenue Duplex.
As most homeowners request housewide audio, in-ceiling speakers are a common feature in a well-appointed smart home. Osbee offers many solutions to minimize the visual impact of speakers so as not to take over the aesthetics of the rooms.
