Portfolio: The Light-Filled Contemporary

Osbee’s first visit to this 8,000 sq. ft. home revealed a quietly stunning contemporary residence with exposures on all sides that drench every room with light.

The media and other home technology systems in place, however, did little to reflect the sophistication of the home. We met with the homeowners to learn what would make their lives more convenient and enjoyable. On the top of the list: a fully featured system in such a way to render the technology invisible and enhance the calm, modern aesthetics of the residence. Because it was a retrofit project where the client would be in residence during our installation, we engineered, programmed, and tested much of the job in our lab to minimize disruption of the family’s lives.

Just off the Foyer, one of several touchscreens placed strategically throughout the house gives the family access to the entire system. The keypad below the screen provides one-touch local control of multiple lighting zones and specific fixtures.

The wall-mounted touchscreen in the hall off the Foyer is a convenient place for the family to access all the features of their Osbee system when heading out the door or arriving home. Our floorplan-based Osbee Home app allows fast, easy climate control simply by tapping the desired room in the house.

The recessed light fixtures and the chandelier in the Dining Room are integrated into the system and can be dimmed to the perfect settings for any occasion using a local keypad dimmers and presets, the wall-mounted touchscreen on the far wall, or the homeowners’ iPads and iPhones.

The sleek 10-inch wall-mounted touchscreen near the entry to the Dining Room is a complement to the décor and iconic contemporary photography collection.

In the Living Room, motorized shades and draperies can be easily adjusted to control the climate and the amount of natural light filtering in through the windows.

The media cabinet was custom-built to Osbee’s specifications to adequately house and ventilate the television and the hidden components of the surround-sound system.

Touchscreen

From a conveniently placed touchscreen in the family room to a multi-function keypad in the upstairs gallery, this Osbee Home provides the family with simple, easy-to-use control of the entire home from anywhere.

On the Covered Patio, the custom-built credenza is as functional as it is stylish, with storage space and a hidden TV that rises up on the built-in lift when it’s time to watch the show.

By the pool or under the covered patio, the family can surf the web, adjust the pool temperature, and enjoy a favorite playlist over the weatherproof speakers.

The custom-built teak credenza features a motorized lift that tucks the weatherproof TV away in inclement weather. And no matter whether it’s the outdoor TV, lights in the kitchen, or speakers in the guest room, all the technology in the home is connected to centrally located equipment racks and control modules that make the home perform seamlessly as one fully integrated system.
