Portfolio: The Tailored Palisades Home

Located in a quiet hamlet along the Hudson river just north of New York City, this residence is home to an active young family. The homeowners brought in Osbee to transform the basement into a versatile, flexible entertainment space that would give everyone a place to have fun and entertain.

Our first focus was the Dedicated Home Theater. With Osbee’s cinema-level engineering and the interior designer’s tailored finishes, it serves as a casual, comfortable space for a movie screening, a SuperBowl party, or simply a lazy Saturday of Netflix binge-watching. Outside the theater, a dual-screen Sports Bar and adjacent Game Room make the lower level perfect for entertaining family and friends of all ages.

With seating for 12, everyone in the Theater gets the best seat in the house. The fully motorized incliners from Cineak are upholstered in top-grain leather and allow the seat backs, footrests, and headrests to be adjusted to each viewer’s preferences at the touch of the keypad control inside the armrest of each seat.

The Digital Projection Insight 4K laser projector is housed in a climate-controlled projection booth designed to match the wood panels throughout the room.

Movies, TV, and streaming video can be selected using any of the touchscreens, iPads, and smartphones running the Osbee Home app created for the residence.

The Stewart Filmscreens 133-inch Cinemascope screen features motorized vertical masking that automatically adjusts the screen to the aspect ratio of the content format being viewed. Enclosures behind acoustically transparent panels house the speakers in the 7.1 surround-sound system.

Touchscreen

Every decision we make when designing an Osbee Home is driven by ease of control. For control of the entire system — such as lights, climate, shades, and security — touchscreens and iPads running our custom-programmed app put the entire system at the homeowners’ fingertips. Or when it comes to simply changing the volume or switching from broadcast TV to a streaming source, sometimes all that’s needed is a handheld remote. Osbee gives our clients a thoughtful and flexible choice of control devices designed for the way people live and interact with the technology in their homes.

Two 77-inch televisions flank the Sports Bar outside the theater. The Crestron Digital Media system lets viewers watch anything they want on either screen.

In the Powder Room adjacent to the Sports Bar, a low-profile flush-mount lighting keypad programmed to control several light fixtures at a time was specified to offer elegant control and functionality.

Outside, friends and family can lounge by the pool and watch movies, TV, and streaming video on the Samsung Terrace TV. Fully waterproof and designed for use in any season, this ultra-bright 4K HDR screen rivals any indoor TV in brightness, and is fully integrated into the Osbee Home system so it can be controlled by the poolside handheld remote, the family’s iPads and iPhones, or any touchscreen in the residence.
