With a fraction of the space, incorporating a comparable system presented a challenge. Working closely with the client’s architects and designers, we engineered the robust, fully integrated system they asked for.
A weatherproof TV resides in a custom enclosure on the Terrace. A motorized awning shades the seating area from the sun with the press of a button.
NYC living requires ingenious use of space to serve multiple functions. To turn the Living Room into a Media Room at the touch of a button, we engineered a motorized sliding wall that completely conceals the 63-inch TV in a custom-designed recess when not in use. Custom fabric panels hide a full set of surround-sound speakers.
Other custom millwork found throughout the residence is designed to our specifications to provide adequate ventilation and receptacles to house the electronics.
Hidden in a small climate-controlled closet in the corner of the Living Room is the Equipment Rack, which contains the processors, distribution equipment, and audio and video sources for all of the speakers and TVs throughout the residence.
All the traditional on/off “dumb” switches throughout the residence were replaced with multi-function keypads that embody the convenience of a smart home. Simply press a button to bring up a pre-programmed scene of lights to set the scene for whatever task is at hand.
With closet doors taking up virtually all the wall space in the Primary Bedroom, a 32-inch TV drops down from a custom-engineered ceiling lift — and disappears from the room when not in use.
